Beat Officer Newsletter Update – PC 12829 Jaininder Singh Shoker
Reporting Period: 25 June – 8 July 2026
Tackling Crime and Protecting Communities
Over the reporting period I have been part of a number of enforcement operations and investigations across the Dartford district. This included participation in Operation Budding, where a cannabis cultivation was discovered, evidenced and dismantled following the execution of a mis-use of drugs act warrant in Joydens Wood. As a result of the operation two Section 18 PACE searches linked to the operation were conducted which resulted in three arrests. From this operation ongoing reassurance patrolling was conducted to local residents following police activity in the area. Operation Railroad was also conducted which is an operation in relation to nuisance vehicles in the area, as well as e scooter operation in Dartford Town centre with the Dartford Borough Council community safety team. Operation Mundial which is public order patrolling in Dartford Town Centre and licensed premises in the Dartford area in relation to the Football World Cup to ensure the safety of the community and dealing with any public order incidents and crime as a result of the World Cup
Several offenders were brought to justice during this period, including arrests for a no-bail warrants which are warrants issued by the courts for persons who have failed to appear at court, criminal damage, vehicle-related offences and arrests in relation to high risk domestic abuse offenders who live in the London areas. Further investigative work included enquiries relating to a high-risk rape investigation with the enquiries made establishing a new address and vehicle for the offender who was then arrested after being located and safeguarding the victim due to the nature of the offence. And assisting detectives with suspect tracing and intelligence development
Supporting Victims and Safeguarding Vulnerable People
Victim care remained a priority, with regular updates provided to victims of crime and anti-social behaviour incidents. Maintaining contact with residents affected by vehicle crime providing safety and security advice to deter these offences were occurring. Maintaining contact with neighbourhood disputes and ongoing investigations, ensuring those impacted remained informed and supported and patrolling the areas to show a police presence with an example being Dartford Heath due to reports of vagrancy offences
A number of safeguarding matters were also progressed, including attendance at meetings with educational settings and nursery staff, completion of Child Risk Assessments and liaison with partner agencies to protect vulnerable individuals and support ongoing investigations. As well as supporting Modern Day Slavery victims as a result of an arrest that was made at a Dartford business and visiting numerous businesses in Dartford to identify and support victims that are identified
Working with Partners to Solve Local Issues
Strong partnership working continued throughout the fortnight, with engagement taking place with Dartford Borough Council, parish councils, local councillors and neighbouring police teams. This included discussions around environmental concerns with a walk with Dartford Council through Dartford Heath in relation to the off-road motorbikes on the heath, the areas where the vagrancy offences are taking place to show a police presence in the area and to also discuss crime prevention opportunities and safeguarding issues at local educational establishments. Work is currently being conducted by myself in relation to cross-border policing activity with Metropolitan Police colleagues to target cross border criminality and identifying suspects and disrupting criminal and illegal activity
I also attended Joydens Wood Parish Council and local ward meetings, helping residents raise concerns directly with local partners and supporting long-term problem-solving initiatives within the community
Community Engagement and Reassurance
Community engagement remained a significant focus, with attendance at a range of events including the Dartford Mela and South Asian Heritage Month celebrations at the Orchard Theatre. These events provided valuable opportunities to engage with residents, strengthen community relationships and promote positive policing within diverse communities and for the community to see the human side of police officers
Regular high-visibility patrols were carried out across Joydens Wood, Dartford Heath, Leyton Cross, Maypole, Bexley Park and surrounding areas. Local anti-social behaviour concerns were addressed through direct engagement with residents and young people, helping to resolve issues and provide reassurance.
In Summary
I have delivered a proactive mix of enforcement, safeguarding, victim care, neighbourhood problem-solving and community engagement. Through targeted operations, partnership working and visible patrol activity, significant progress has been made in addressing crime, tackling anti-social behaviour and building trust and confidence across the communities of Joydens Wood, Dartford Heath and the wider Dartford area
